Imelda. First Came The Rain, Now Get Ready for The Mosquitoes

We have all seen the incredible pictures of the devastation caused by the recent flooding in southeast Texas. Our hearts go out to those affected.

Unfortunately the second shoe is about to drop. Once the floodwaters recede, puddles linger and provide fertile breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The CDC estimates the period from egg to adult mosquito to be as short as 8-10 days. We can expect mosquitoes to be out in force later this week. Please take precautions to protect your family from mosquito borne illness by wearing repellent with deet when going outside and if you have a mosquito service, ask your technician if an extra treatment would be beneficial. You can view the CDC's description of the mosquito life cycle here https://www.cdc.gov/dengue/resources/factSheets/MosquitoLifecycleFINAL.pdf
