So you're being a responsible homeowner and during your weekly walk-around of your home you see some trails of dirt snaking their way up your foundation. There are two schools of thought in regards to treating subterranean termites: Bait stations like the Trelona ATBS, and creation of a barrier around the home with fipronil-based termiticides. Both treatment strategies have their merits, with bait stations allowing for easy and regular inspections to determine severity of termite activity around a home, and barrier treatments for their "set and forget" nature due to the long-lasting protection modern termiticides provide. Because each home is different, it's important to have a visual inspection before any treatment is done both to properly identify the termite species present and to discuss options with your pest control professional.
